Lowe's has launched its its Mylow virtual adviser, AI-powered Materials Lists and other efforts with staff, consumers and Pro customers all in mind.

Lowe’s Companies Inc. made artificial intelligence (AI) a priority in a wave of new Lowe’s executive promotions for September.

Its list of changes included adding AI to the formal title of Seemantini Godbole, Lowe’s chief information officer. And the value the home improvement retailer places on its AI tools spans both its consumer and Pro business segments.

Godbole summarized a few of the places internally that the retailer’s AI ambitions touch, following the Lowe’s 2026 Tech Fair, an annual showcase of the company’s technology projects.

“I could say so much about the tech we build, from our homegrown virtualization platform, to security anomaly detection, to our AI Foundry, to the many customer and associate facing products, our award winning Lowe’s app, and MyRedVest, our super popular product for store associates!” Godbole wrote on LinkedIn in September.

As Lowe’s online sales demonstrated in its latest Q2 earnings results, AI assistance appears to be having a material impact on key metrics.

How Lowe’s is using its Mylow AI assistant

“In fact, the conversion rate for online customers who use Mylow is triple that of customers who do not use the tool, reinforcing that a well-designed agentic AI experience can be a clear driver in the purchasing decision,” said Marvin Ellison, president, CEO and chairman at Lowe’s, during its August earnings call with investors.

Ellison noted during the call that Mylow, which is part of a larger app for Lowe’s associates, “has supported over 25 million questions from customers and associates” since it debuted in 2025.

Lowe’s crafted the Mylow assistant with the help of OpenAI. At the time, the retailer framed it as a way to expand engagement with its customers, both directly and as an aid through the Mylow Companion interface for staff as they assist shoppers.

What is the Lowe’s AI Foundry?

Lowe’s AI Foundry, which Godbole mentioned, is an integrated development environment (IDE) that the company established for work on AI-powered tools. It’s where internal development happens with guardrails in place for testing, with access to large language models (LLMs) for building out software, Lowe’s shared previously.

As the company tests new applications there, it can track performance and judge how technology may perform in real-world environments before deployments.

Why Lowe’s launched Materials Lists for Pro customers

In May, Lowe’s rolled out Materials Lists, an AI tool aimed at its Pro customers to help them take files and physical documents and integrate them into their planning process for faster turnaround times when receiving quotes.

“We know time is one of the most valuable resources for Pros, and every minute spent manually building estimates or organizing material lists is time taken away from serving customers and growing their businesses,” said Quonta Vance, executive vice president of Pro and home services at Lowe’s. “Material Lists is part of our broader commitment to building smarter, faster solutions that simplify the customer journey and help Pros save time, work more efficiently and stay competitive.”

Joseph McFarland, executive vice president of stores at Lowe’s, highlighted Materials Lists’ impact during the retailer’s May earnings call.

“Pros can bring in the list in just about any format, whether a photo, handwritten note, PDF or spreadsheet, and our associates can use this tool to convert it into an actionable quote,” McFarland stated. “In the past, this was a manual task, which meant generating these quotes could take days, taking associates away from serving Pro customers. Now, with this AI-enabled tool, we’ve reduced that time from days to minutes.”

In the current environment where Pro and online sales are driving growth amid macro challenges for consumers, Lowe’s ability to improve its Pro experience remains as important as ever.
