Amazon and Winn-Dixie have each been closing physical stores at the end of 2025 and in the first half of 2026. At the same time, Amazon has been making a push to increase its online grocery sales and same-day deliveries.

Amazon and Winn-Dixie have announced their expansion of a grocery delivery partnership in Florida.

The expansion increases same-day delivery availability for online grocery orders across the state, reaching more of Florida’s largest metropolitan areas. The companies said consumers can check delivery availability in their area by visiting amazon.com/winndixie or using the Amazon shopping app.

This comes months after Amazon announced it is closing Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh physical stores, converting some locations to Whole Foods Market stores. Similarly, it comes as Winn-Dixie has announced it will close or sell about 30 stores across multiple states. At the same time, Amazon has been making a push to increase its same-day grocery deliveries.

In August, Amazon announced it could reach 1,000 cities and towns with same-day grocery delivery. Separately, Amazon had set a goal this year to better reach rural areas in the United States. It said in June that its plans include reaching more than 4,000 smaller cities, towns and rural communities in the U.S. with same-day and next-day delivery.

Amazon has recently announced one-hour and three-hour delivery options across the country. Additionally, it has:

Amazon ranks No. 1 in Digital Commerce 360’s Top 2000 Database. The database is how Digital Commerce 360 tracks the largest North American online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales.

Amazon is also No. 3 in Digital Commerce 360’s Global Online Marketplaces Database. That database ranks the 100 largest such marketplaces by third-party gross merchandise value (GMV).

Among the owners of Winn-Dixie is C&S Wholesale Grocers. The partial owner was part of a divestiture plan in the now-failed attempted merger of Albertsons and Kroger.

Where Amazon and Winn-Dixie are expanding grocery delivery

Amazon and Winn-Dixie said they have made grocery delivery via Amazon available to customers throughout Florida. In alphabet order, areas include:

  • Fort Lauderdale
  • Jacksonville
  • Miami
  • Orlando
  • Pensacola
  • St. Petersburg
  • Tallahassee
  • Tampa
  • West Palm Beach

Amazon and Winn-Dixie also said grocery delivery extends to each area’s surrounding neighborhoods and nearby communities. Additionally, they said consumers can shop more than 15,000 Winn-Dixie grocery items on Amazon.

“Since launching in Jacksonville and Orlando last fall, we’ve seen how much customers value the combination of Winn-Dixie’s trusted selection with Amazon’s convenient delivery,” said Sophie Turrell, director of U.S. grocery partnerships at Amazon, in a statement. “More Florida customers have been asking for the ability to shop their favorite local grocery store through Amazon, and we’re thrilled to deliver on that request. This expansion demonstrates our commitment to growing partnerships that customers love and bringing more local grocery favorites to more Florida families.”

The companies said they have grown their partnership, which began in September 2025, “from two regions to most of Florida in seven months.” That shows strong consumer demand, they said.

“This expansion allows us to serve even more families with the fresh, quality products and everyday value they expect,” said Gayle Shields, chief merchandising and marketing officer for The Winn-Dixie Company, in the statement. “Building on our initial launch, we’re now reaching the majority of Florida households — bringing added convenience and more savings to customers across the state.”
