The combined programs' perks, including delivery benefits, streaming discounts and new exclusive offers, will be used to incentivize more shoppers to subscribe to both Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus.

Walmart Inc. will bundle memberships for its Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus programs, making a bet that shoppers will subscribe to both when given the chance to save nearly $100.

The paid membership programs for Walmart and its sibling chain of club locations both include free delivery options, as well as lineups of other perks that will be offered together for a $120 annual fee.

Walmart ranks No. 2 in Digital Commerce 360’s Top 1000 Database. The market research tool tracks North America’s largest online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales.

In addition, Walmart is No. 37 in Digital Commerce 360 and ReFiBuy’s AI Commerce Rankings. That set of rankings is available in the Top 1000 Pro with AI Database.

Why Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus memberships are being offered together

“We’re giving people a reason to expect more from their memberships,” said John Furner, president and CEO at Walmart. “For $120 a year, we’re raising expectations for what a membership can deliver: more money in their pockets and more time to call their own.”

In a list of features and benefits published by Walmart, the company outlined 26 perks that it would make available, including those from the standalone Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus plans, as well as four that do not appear outside of the combined bundle. Those include:

  • Pharmacy savings
  • Savings on optical and hearing
  • Early shopping
  • An annual $60 electronic gift card for T-Mobile

For existing Walmart+ members under the retailer’s annual plan, the combined membership means an additional $22 annual cost. Meanwhile, the company said the Sam’s Club Plus members could add Walmart+ to their existing subscription at no extra cost. Sam’s Club members who do not already pay for Plus will be charged $60 more per year to add both memberships to their accounts.

Benefits from the individual Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus memberships

Both Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus have added new incentives in recent years, expanding their work with partners to build out benefits to compete with other paid membership programs such as Amazon Prime and Target Circle 360.

In the latest announcement, Walmart highlighted streaming access to either Peacock or Paramount+, as well as savings of 10 cents a gallon at more than 17,000 participating stations, among the combined subscription’s selling points.

Sam’s Club added Weight Watchers options to its program over the summer. In 2024, Walmart incorporated Burger King purchase savings into its memberships.
