Nordstrom shoppers took to social media to express frustration with issues including being double charged and orders not going through.

Nordstrom’s early access anniversary sale kicked off online on Thursday, but not without a hitch.

Nordstrom on Friday emailed customers an apology for technical problems on its website Thursday.

Issues on Nordstrom.com prompted the retailer to email customers Friday morning with an apology and extra credit or debit card reward points for their purchases.

Shoppers reported issues accessing Nordstrom.com throughout the day Thursday, with some tweeting screen grabs of their orders not going through. Nordstrom Inc., No. 17 in the Internet Retailer 2017 Top 500, is offering Nordstrom cardholders early and exclusive access to deals from now through July 20. Nordstrom’s anniversary sale opens to the general public on Friday, July 21, and continues through Sunday, Aug. 6.

Shoppers took to Twitter to vent their frustrations, which included being double charged for orders, credit card applications not being processed and shopping carts disappearing.

Nordstrom spent Thursday responding to angry shoppers throughout the day on its Twitter feed. The retailer also issued a statement on Twitter, saying “We apologize for the site issues many of you are experiencing. Our teams are working hard to restore. Thank you for your patience.” Nordstrom did not say what caused the issues. The retailer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In its first quarter earnings report in May,Nordstrom reported that online accounted for 24% of sales during the quarter, while sales through Nordstrom.com grew by 10.9% year-over-year during the quarter. Nordstrom also operates stores and websites for its off-price brands Nordstrom Rack and HauteLook.
