Therace Risch spent 10 years at Target Corp.

J.C. Penney Co. Inc. has hired Therace Risch as executive vice president and chief information officer. She started the job last month, replacing Scott Laverty who had that role for about two years.

Risch most recently was executive vice president and chief information officer at financial services firm Country Financial, and prior to that spent 10 years in information technology roles at Target Corp. She left Target in 2014 as vice president of information technology for delivery services. Target is No. 16 in the Internet Retailer 2015 Top 500 Guide. J.C. Penney is No. 37.

“Therace is an outstanding IT professional with an extensive background of merging innovative retail technologies and powerful applications to drive both brick-and-mortar and online growth,” says Marvin R. Ellison, chief executive of J.C. Penney. Ellison became CEO of the retailer in August and has hired several high-level executives since, several of whom worked at Ellison’s prior employers. Ellison worked for The Home Depot Inc. (No. 10 in the Top 500) for about 12 years and Target Corp. for 15 years.

Other executive hires include Michael Amend as executive vice president of omnichannel, who came from The Home Depot, and Mike Robbins as senior vice president of supply chain. Robbins joined from Target.
