Chris McCann will add CEO to his title of president as his brother Jim McCann becomes executive chairman.

There will be a new brother in charge at 1-800-Flowers.com Inc. as Chris McCann becomes CEO of the flowers and gourmet food and gifts retailer.

The e-retailer on Wednesday said that founder, chairman and CEO Jim McCann will shift into the role of executive chairman while Chris adds CEO to his title of president. The changes are effective June 30.

“When we set up this succession plan many years ago, we did so with the goal of a having a seamless transition. Chris has been steering our company’s day-to-day operations as president since 2000,” Jim McCann said. “His contributions as part of our leadership team have helped 1-800-Flowers.com Inc. grow past $1 billion in revenues while enhancing our market-leading position as our customers’ top destination for all of their celebratory and gifting occasions.”

Chris McCann, who in June delivered the keynote presentation at the 2015 Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition in Chicago, said, “I have learned a great deal working alongside Jim over the years, as we took one storefront shop on Manhattan’s East side and grew it into a leading, omnichannel gift retailer. Our long history of focusing on innovation and embracing new technology will continue to play a vital role in solving the gifting needs of our millions of customers.”

In its most recent quarterly report, for fiscal Q2 2016 ended Dec. 27, the online retailer reported food and gift basket sales increased 4.7%, but total e-commerce, which includes online and telephone orders, grew less than 1%.

1-800-Flowers.com, which in October 2014 acquired gourmet gifts and basket company Harry & David, has been focused on cross-brand marketing and consolidating its customer database. Those efforts are helping to drive customer loyalty, Jim McCann said in late January when earnings results were released. The retailer’s multibranded e-commerce platform uses one home page with multiple tabs for its brands, including Harry & David gourmet treats and gifts, Fannie May candy, Cheryl’s cookies, The Popcorn Factory and Wolferman’ baked goods.
