Ferguson Enterprises Inc., a distributor of plumbing and related supplies, has promoted its vice president of e-business to chief marketing officer.

In his new role, Mike Brooks will be responsible for developing new business among customers who place orders online, through its more than 1400 stores and via its customer contact center.

Ferguson, which sells heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as plumbing supplies to professional building contractors and homeowners, operates a business-to-business site at FergusonOnline.com and a retail site at shop.Ferguson.com. It also sells to businesses through e-catalogs customized to individual customers; e-procurement software that customers use to manage spending; and punchout catalogs that let buyers link from procurement software to approved sections of Ferguson’s B2B e-commerce site.

“Mike has been instrumental in leading both our B2B and business-to-consumer e-commerce channels,” CEO Frank Roach says. “Bringing out e-commerce and marketing teams together under Mike’s leadership will strengthen our omnichannel approach to the market and create a consistent world-class customer service world-class customers service experience across the country, culminating in a national Ferguson brand.”

Brooks joined Ferguson’s parent, Switzerland-based Wolseley plc, in 1997 as director of information technology for stock building supply. In 2001, he was named Wolseley’s vice president of information technology, and in 2005, vice president of information systems and technology for the North American region. He also serves on Oracle Corp.’s Customer Advisory Board for e-commerce.

Ferguson has been nominated as a finalist for the B2B E-Commerce Website Redesign of the Year in this year’s Internet Retailer Excellence Awards program.
