E-commerce software provider eCommera Ltd. has hired Kevin Sterneckert as chief marketing officer.
Sterneckert’s last job was as a vice president of research at technology consulting firm Gartner Inc., where he focused on retail. He previously worked as senior director of global product strategy at Oracle Retail and as the vice president of retail for DemandTec, a web-based technology that compiles consumer purchasing data across retail channels. IBM Corp. acquired DemandTec in 2011 for $440 million.
ECommera says its software can analyze the large quantities of data many retailers and brands possess but hold in disparate systems. Visibility into the products a retailer has ordered, for example, can help the marketing department better craft upcoming campaigns. Its DynamicAction product displays changes in profits, return on investment and other sales performance metrics. Clients access eCommera software via the Internet, a business model known as software-as-a-service, as opposed to hosting the software themselves.
The vendor announced in February that it had raised $41 million in a Series C funding round. At the time, the company, which launched in 2007, said it would use the money to build out its software and expand internationally, particularly in North America. ECommera is based in London. Last year, the company bought OrderDynamics Corp., a Canadian company that provides web-hosted order management software.

ECommera counts among its European clients such retailers as Asda and House of Fraser Stores Ltd. Asda, a supermarket chain, is No. 14 in Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Europe. House of Fraser, a department store chain, is No. 100.
