EnvisionB2B June 22 keynotes:

John Hill, MSC Industrial Supply Co.

Keynote: “Going More Digital to Deliver Customer Value”

John Hill, chief digital and information officer, MSC Industrial Supply Co.

Ecommerce has long been a crucial driver of MSC Industrial Supply Co.’s growth strategy. But the multibillion-dollar distributor plans to continue enhancing its digital channel, the company says.

In his keynote, Hill will address how MSC — which does more than 60% of its nearly $4 billion in annual sales through ecommerce — is expanding and fine-tuning its digital technology and strategy to bring more value to customers and grow both digital and offline sales.

Hill, an ecommerce veteran who last year became MSC’s first chief digital and information officer, is helping MSC to extend its digital evolution in multichannel commerce “so we can  support our customers, suppliers and other stakeholders at the highest level,” he says.

Velinda Cox, Konica Minolta

Keynote:A New Strategy for a Digital Channel and Ecosystem”

Velinda Cox, senior vice president of ecommerce, Konica Minolta

Transitioning a traditional B2B company toward digital commerce supported by a digital technology ecosystem is no easy task — especially for a global organization. But that’s what 150-year-old, worldwide Konica Minolta is doing, and its senior vice president of ecommerce, Velinda Cox, will talk about her company’s transition during a June 22 keynote address at EnvisionB2B 2023 in Chicago.

Konica Minolta is taking a “crawl, walk, run” approach to building out its ecommerce technology and developing a better customer experience.

“First, learning through interviews and surveys how channel partners and customers want to interact with the company,” Cox says. “Then building it out to suit their requirements with a most-viable-product start approach.”

“Our aspiration is to deliver what the market demands. And in doing so, we’re going to augment the sales we have today by reaching a market originating on the web that our direct physical sales organizations and dealers are not touching today.”

Jim Lyman, Performance Foodservice

Jim Lyman, who heads ecommerce strategy at Performance Foodservice, will talk about how the company has developed — and continues to enhance — a digital commerce ecosystem that upgrades the buying experience for customers across his its product lines.

“Customer First is our new digital platform designed to provide customers across our businesses with a better online ordering experience, PFG’s chief financial officer, Patrick Hatcher, said on a third-quarter earnings call. “We expect this platform to result in increased order sizes, improved customer retention and generate new business wins.”
