Death and taxes may be touted as the only two certainties in life, but at least mobile technology is aiming to help make one of those two tasks go a little more smoothly. As more consumers wearily approach the dreaded annual duty of doing taxes, app stores are showcasing apps that can help them get the job done and brands with tax-help apps are fighting for downloads.

This month’s Mobile Strategies 360/Gummicube Monthly App Store Search Index analyzes the top-ranking mobile apps in app store searches with tax-related keywords. As more than 70% of app downloads come from app store searches, ranking high in Google Play and Apple App Store search results is important for brands looking to capture mobile app users during tax season, according to Gummicube.

“Tax season is among us and both the Google Play and iTunes App Store feature front-page sections with apps curated to help users through the tax season, whether it’s their first time dealing with taxes or if they’re someone experienced looking for a faster way to complete them,” says David Bell, CEO of Gummicube, a provider of software, data and services for mobile marketing and app store optimization.”

Intuit, a provider of financial software for consumers and businesses, has at least one app ranking in the Top 15 search results in both app stores for each trending tax-related search term that Gummicube researched in an app store search analysis conducted on Feb. 23, Bell says.
