Google Play is the official app store for the Android operating system where consumers can download applications developed and published through Google. It is also the digital media store, offering music, magazines, books, movies, and TV programs. Apps are available through Google Play either free of charge or at a cost. They can be downloaded directly to an Android or Google TV device through the Google Play Store mobile app or by deploying the application to a device from the Google Play website. According to mobile app measurement firm App Annie, 90% of Google Play’s 2016 revenue came from games, and revenue paid out to publishers by Google and Apple’s iOS App Store totaled $35 billion.
