Amazon Canada opened up a new shop for business customers last week.

The marketplace giant launched on Jan. 28 a Business, Industrial & Scientific Supplies store at Amazon.ca/Industrial with more than 1 million products across several categories. The new online store features products from such brands as Rubbermaid Commercial Products, Kimberly-Clark Professional, 3M Littmann medical devices and Jonard Tools.

“We are delighted to offer businesses of all sizes, as well as laboratories and hospitals, schools and universities, public institutions and nonprofit organizations a vast selection of commercial supplies and products at low prices—all in one place,” says Alexandre Gagnon, country manager for Amazon.ca, the Canadian arm of Amazon.com Inc.

The new online store organizes products into such categories as: Lab & Scientific Products; Professional Medical Supplies; Power & Hand Tools; Additive Manufacturing Products; Occupational Health & Safety Products; Tapes, Adhesives & Sealers; and Test, Measure & Inspection Products. Additive manufacturing is a form of 3D printing in which materials are added in layers to build products.

Once customers log in to the site, they can view personalized product recommendations. Amazon.ca/Industrial also offers customers free two-day shipping with Amazon Prime and Free Super Saver Shipping on select items priced at more than $25.

The addition of the Business, Industrial & Scientific Supplies store brings the total number of items on Amazon.ca to 100 million, including such consumer-oriented categories as Electronics, Clothing, Toys, Kitchens, Books, Amazon says.

The store is in beta phase, which means Amazon.ca is still testing the site as customers use it. Amazon hasn’t said how long it expects the beta phase to run.
