Parts Town Unlimited signed a lease with plans to bring a new fulfillment center to the Atlanta area, expanding the Illinois-based distributor’s capabilities in the region.
The location, known as Jackson 85 North and located at 85 North Business Park in Pendergrass, Georgia, gives Parts Town 538,450 square feet of space to use. The company announced that its facility could be occupied by the end of 2026.
The size alone would make the property Parts Town’s largest fulfillment center to date.
Why Parts Town is bringing a new fulfillment center to the Atlanta area
“Our new Global Fulfillment Center represents an important next step in the evolution of our North American distribution network and positions us to serve our customers and manufacturer partners with even greater speed, flexibility and scale,” said Bill Geary, CEO at Parts Town, in a released statement. “By placing greater depth and breadth of mission-critical OEM [original equipment manufacturer] parts closer to customers across the Southeast, we can reduce transit times and costs while creating room for our partners’ expanding inventories.”
Parts Town’s move marks a larger addition of the Southeast to the company’s global network of fulfillment centers. It already operates such facilities in Chicago, Phoenix and Munich.
“We are also proud to invest in the Atlanta area and become an active member of the local community,” Geary stated.
Ultimately, Parts Town plans to host at least 140 team members at Pendergrass. There, Parts Town expects the site be its first such fulfillment center to be LEED certified.
LEED certification refers to a standard for leadership in energy and environmental design.
What Parts Town’s new fulfillment center will do
The new fulfillment center will stock commercial foodservice, residential appliance and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) OEM parts, according to Parts Town. Once it is open, the distributor anticipates being able to ship to “93% of the U.S. within two days.”
Moreover, Parts Town will begin offering local fulfillment options within the region. Those will include pickup and same-day delivery. The distributor claims those options will make parts available to some customers in two hours after an order is made.
At the site, Parts Town plans to deploy what it says will be “advanced AI-powered robotics solutions.” In addition, it listed automation use cases at the facility for packing stations, shipping sortation and receiving.
Parts Town uses artificial intelligence in other areas of its operations as well, including with its PartPredictor tool, which recently added new AI-enabled features for repair-project-focused part recommendations. The company claimed that after launching the latest version of that tool, its conversion rates for PartPredictor users on PartsTown.com increased by 54%, boosting transactions. Meanwhile, associated revenue moved by upward of 400% year over year, according to results it shared at the time.
