The updated flow for listing creation on mobile devices leverage's eBay's AI-powered magical listing tool to suggest details to sellers.

EBay’s ongoing efforts to reduce friction for sellers and integrate artificial intelligence (AI) features in its online marketplace are moving forward, and the company says its latest solutions reduced the steps required to create listings by 50%.

The refreshed flow for sellers to create listings is rolling out in the U.S., U.K. and Germany, eBay announced. And the rollout follows early testing in the U.K., where it claims to have seen successful outcomes with its sellers.

EBay ranks No. 6 in Digital Commerce 360’s Global Online Marketplaces Database. The database ranks the 100 largest such marketplaces by third-party gross merchandise value (GMV).

How eBay’s AI tool works when creating new listings

The new flow that eBay shared features its “magical listing tool,” leveraging AI to fill out details after a seller uploads a product image. EBay says it prioritized simplification and mobile-friendliness in designing the updated process.

The photo- and title-first approach diverges from eBay’s previous flow, which was based around text-based searches of similar, existing listings in the online marketplace’s catalog.

Ultimately, sellers will review and approve the suggestions that the AI-based tool makes.

“This new flow has led to higher quality and efficiency in the listing process,” eBay claimed in a corporate blog posting. “Early testing in the U.K. shows that the new, streamlined experience has led to a 50% reduction in the total steps needed to list and faster listing times.”

Moreover, it expects that its tools’ accuracy when recommending item details will continue to improve as it updates them throughout the rest of 2025.

Other ways eBay is using AI

EBay noted that more than 10 million sellers globally have used its existing AI features to date. That activity has included the creation of more than 100 million listings that relied on AI. Those listing, it claims, generated billions of dollars in gross merchandise volume (GMV).

In addition to collaborating with OpenAI Operator on agentic commerce solutions for shoppers, which eBay announced in January, the company rolled out its Magical Bulk Listing features in 2024 for its Seller Hub users in the U.S., U.K. and Germany. It also has a background enhancement tool that produces AI-generated backgrounds for product photos.

Going forward, eBay expects to expand the availability of the new flow to sellers using its business tools as well.
