Pandemic drives a sales shift to the web

Retail chains’ share of Top 1000 sales increased to 32.4% in 2021 from 31.0% in 2019, an increase of 1.4 percentage points that exceeded the 0.6 percentage-point increase for consumer brand manufacturers. The strong showing of these two groups actually dropped Amazon’s Top 1000 share slightly to 35.2% in 2021 from 35.4% in 2019. Other merchants in the Top 1000 also lost share to the retail chains and consumer goods makers.
