Sharif Sleiman has also worked in management positions at Groupon, eBay and Oracle.

Home furnishings e-retailer Wayfair LLC has lured an e-commerce veteran from Staples Inc. to lead its supply chain operations.

Wayfair, No. 33 in the Internet Retailer 2015 Top 500 Guide, hired Sharif Sleiman as its vice president of supply chain and operations. Sleiman spent the past two and a half years working at Staples (No. 4) where he had been vice president of e-commerce operations. Prior to joining Staples, he held management-level roles at Groupon (whose online marketplace Groupon Goods is No. 30) and served in a variety of roles at eBay Inc. and Oracle.

Sleiman’s hiring comes as business is booming for web-only Wayfair. In Q3, Wayfair’s web sales grew 91.0% year over year thanks in part to it growing its active customer base nearly 61%.

“Sharif has been working at the forefront of e-commerce for the entire course of his career, leading logistics and supply chain operations for some of the biggest brands in online retail,” Wayfair chief operating officer James Savarese says. “We look forward to the leadership and insights that Sharif brings to the team as we rapidly expand and optimize operations to support Wayfair’s incredible customer growth.”

Wayfair is set to report its Q4 and fiscal 2015 earnings on Feb. 25.
