Newly named executive vice president Scott Williams joined the retailer in 2011.

Outdoor equipment retailer Cabela’s Inc.  has promoted its head of e-commerce.

Cabela’s, No. 63 in the Internet Retailer 2015 Top 500 Guide, said Scott Williams will become executive vice president and chief commercial officer, effective at the end of this month. Williams replaces Brian Linneman, who will become a strategic adviser to the retailer. The company says Williams will continue to oversee Cabela’s e-commerce efforts.

Williams is an experienced e-commerce executive who joined Cabela’s in October 2011 following stints at several high-profile retailers. He spent 10 years with office supplies retailer OfficeMax as senior vice president of marketing at OfficeMax.com. Williams also headed up Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s SamsClub.com from 2006-10 and was president of sports apparel e-retailer Fanatics from June 2010 through February 2011.

Cabela’s did an Internet Retailer-estimated $750.0 million in online sales in 2014, down 3.7% from $778.9 million the previous year, according to Top500Guide.com data.
