Some marketplace sellers aren’t able to add or modify listings.

EBay Inc. sellers in the United Kingdom and United States were dealing with an unspecified technical problem that has prevented some of them from “creating or modifying listings,” an eBay spokesman says.

“This issue is impacting customers in various regions, including the U.K. and U.S., and we are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible,” the spokesman says. “We’ll be providing updates on our systems board.”

Further details were not immediately available from the spokesman. That information followed an announcement earlier this morning posted by eBay U.K.: “Due to a technical issue, some eBay customers may notice a problem with key areas of the eBay site. We’re working to solve this problem and apologise for any inconvenience. Please try to complete your transaction at a later time.”

Tamebay.com, a blog designed for eBay sellers in the U.K., posted today about complaints from readers who couldn’t post new listings. “We know this is only affecting some users as when we tested earlier we were able to create a new listings, but that doesn’t make it any the less frustrating for those affected,” the blog says.

A peek at comments on that blog gives an idea of some of the seller frustration. “Great fun watching the busy uploading arrow spinning round for hours at a time lol,” writes one commentator. “Can’t list anything,” writes another.
