Kevin Lyons will continue focusing on digital and mobile channels in his new job as senior vice president, e-commerce.

Home appliance and consumer electronics retailer hhgregg Appliances Inc., No. 469 in Internet Retailer’s 2013 Top 500 Guide, has promoted Kevin Lyons to senior vice president, e-commerce. Lyons joined hhgregg in May 2013 as vice president, e-commerce, where he led the e-commerce team in creating the retailer’s online development and promotional strategy.

“Kevin’s demonstration of leadership makes his promotion much deserved,” says Julie Lyle, chief marketing officer. “His expertise has allowed him to spearhead his team’s efforts to improve the online shopping experience for our customers, while also driving traffic to our stores.  ”

Lyons’ day-to-day job role hasn’t changed drastically, but the importance of e-commerce and digital has grown to a point in the company where “the need presented itself for leveling this role to that of other key leaders in the organization,” says Lyons.

The retailer’s  online sales totaled $50 million in 2013, according to an Internet Retailer estimate. That is 39% higher than 2012 web sales. Lyons said much of the retailer’s recent growth has come from new navigation and layout for the retailer’s e-commerce site, along with the debut of a mobile site and new brand pages for key product categories.  The retailer plans to continue to refine its mobile site and release a mobile app, says Lyons.

Before his time at hhgregg, Lyons worked at  Best Buy Co., No. 10 in Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide, including as senior director, global innovation, and at Sears Holdings Corp., No. 6 in the Top 500 Guide, working with Sears.com, Kmart.com and Mygofer.com, as well as his own retail consulting agency.
