Apple and L.L. Bean posted the best Internet Explorer and Firefox response times, says Gomez.

Apple.com and LLBean.com produced the best high broadband access times among 21 large web retailers tested in June, according to Compuware Gomez. Last month, Apple.com posted the fastest response time in Internet Explorer tests with an average load time of 0.87 seconds. LLBean.com finished atop last month’s Firefox testing, with an average of 0.84 seconds.

Dell.com finished in second place for Internet Explorer tests with an average load time of 1.29 seconds, followed by Costco.com (1.32), HPShopping.com (1.36) and OfficeMax.com (1.48).

Dell.com also finished second in last month’s Firefox response time tests with an average load time of 0.98 seconds. Apple.com (1.00) was next, followed by Overstock.com (1.06), and HPShopping.com and OfficeDepot.com (tied at 1.37).

In June, the average large retailer’s high broadband response time for a shopper using Internet Explorer was 2.06 seconds, the Gomez study shows. The average Firefox response time among the same group of retailers last month was 1.80 seconds.
