Amee Chande takes over as managing director of U.K. retail stores and direct delivery.

Staples Inc.  says its appointment of two new executives will help the office supplies retailer increase its online and store sales across Europe.The retailer’s European division, Staples Europe, has named Amee Chande as managing director of U.K. retail stores and direct-delivery sales. Chande joined Staples in 2009 as senior vice president of strategy, overseeing the company’s growth objectives. In her new position, Chande will be responsible for Staples’ retail and direct-delivery sales in the United Kingdom, which the retail chain identifies as one of its key markets.

“Amee brings her strategic expertise and deep knowledge of the company to drive improvement in our U.K. business,” says Rob Vale, president of Staples Europe.

Staples also has appointed Andrew Gabriel as director of technology and services for retail store operations in Europe.

Gabriel most recently was managing director of U.K. retail and direct operations. Now he leads the development of technology and services for Staples’ retail operations in Europe. Staples operates 326 retail stores in five European countries: Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom. “Gabriel will play an important part in growing our technology and service offerings to retail customers across Europe,” Vale says.
