Retailer launches e-commerce in 90 countries.

Upscale retailer Barneys New York Inc. has expanded its e-commerce reach to customers in 90 countries around the world.

The retailer has extended its reach globally with shipping services from FiftyOne Global Ecommerce, a provider of international e-commerce services and infrastructure, to ship to countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East.

“Barneys has incredible global brand recognition, but we could only service here in the U.S.  International shipping has fundamentally changed that reach,” says Daniella Vitale, chief merchant and executive vice president. Barneys New York is No. 222 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Using the new technology, shoppers outside the U.S. will be able to check out using their country’s currency.

Recently, two other U.S. retail chains Williams-Sonoma Inc. and Jos. A. Bank expanded e-commerce efforts globally. Williams-Sonoma is offering products from its PBTeen brand to shoppers in 75 countries and Jos. A. Bank is selling in 90 countries.
