74% of consumers search multiple online coupon sources each week, a survey finds.

74% of consumers search multiple online coupon sources each week, and 25% spend up to an hour shopping for the best online discount deals, according to survey results released this week by Microsoft Corp.’s Bing search engine.

The results are based on an online survey of 1,058 adult consumers conducted by Impulse Research in March. The survey was conducted at around the same time as Bing launched its “Bing deals” program, which collects and gives consumers access to more than 200,000 offers for daily and local deals, gift certificates and similar discounts across the United States.

The results suggest many consumers regularly look for online coupons. 47% of respondents say they use more local deals and coupons than they did a year ago; 63% say they will search up to 10 different coupons sites each week; and 11% look at more than 10 sources. Moms seem especially thorough, with 81% of women with children saying they search multiple sources each week.  Compared with all women, moms are roughly twice as likely to search 10 or more coupon sources each week, the survey results suggest.

About half of the respondents say they spend more than 15 minutes each week searching for deals, with about a quarter saying they spend between 30 minutes and 60 minutes.
