The executive appointments come as Ahold Delhaize USA continues to scale its omnichannel and supply chain infrastructure.

Ahold Delhaize USA has announced two key executive appointments aimed at strengthening its operational and digital capabilities as it pushes deeper into omnichannel retail and supply chain transformation.

These appointments come as Ahold Delhaize USA continues to scale its omnichannel and supply chain infrastructure to support millions of customers each week. The company is the largest grocery retail group on the East Coast and the fourth largest in the U.S.

Ahold Delhaize USA’s brands include Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company, Hannaford, and Stop & Shop.

New Ahold Delhaize USA executives

Ahold Delhaize USA has named Sanja Krajnovic its chief supply chain officer. The appointment continues her leadership over ADUSA Distribution and ADUSA Transportation. The two units manage more than 20 distribution centers and an extensive transportation network serving the company’s U.S. grocery brands. 90% of the network is now self-distributed — a benchmark Krajnovic helped achieve after joining the company in 2022.

“Given the scope of her role leading one of the largest supply chains on the East Coast … it is important to have Sanja and her teams represented within our U.S. leadership group,” said JJ Fleeman, CEO of Ahold Delhaize USA. “Sanja has helped further solidify our self-distribution model as a competitive edge in the markets where the U.S. brands operate.”

Krajnovic previously served as senior vice president of store operations at Dollar General, where she oversaw 9,300 stores. She also held several high-level roles at Target Corporation over a 25-year career, including group vice president of global supply chain and logistics.

Ahold Delhaize USA has also appointed Keith Nicks its chief commercial and digital officer. The expanded role brings together Ahold Delhaize USA’s commercial functions — including private brands, sourcing, and merchandising — with its digital capabilities such as:

  • Ecommerce fulfillment
  • Retail media
  • Omnichannel marketing
  • Product experience

“By uniting leadership for commercial and digital, we continue to drive simplicity and effectiveness with teams focused on both strategy and value across the full commercial ecosystem,” Fleeman said. “Keith has experience leading digital, ecommerce, category management, retail media and retail operations … and is recognized throughout the organization for being a resolute leader who drives innovation, performance and change.”

Nicks most recently served as chief digital officer. He helped lead the technology and execution behind mobile apps, websites, click-and-collect, and ecommerce partnerships.

A North Carolina native, Nicks began his career at Food Lion, one of Ahold Delhaize USA’s regional banners. He has held leadership roles in operations, marketing, loyalty, and analytics. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
