The industrial products distributor said today it signed a multi-year sports marketing deal with the New York Islanders to build its brand among national as well as local audiences.

Global Industrial Co., no stranger to sports marketing, is looking to score more points with national as well as local New York area customers by teaming up with the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders.

It’s a partnership that plays to the two organizations’ long-time roots on New York’s Long Island.

“For more than 75 years, Global Industrial has called Long Island its home, and we are excited to enter into this partnership with our hometown team, the New York Islanders,” says Lisa Armstrong, Global Industrial’s  senior vice president and chief marketing officer. The marketing arrangement also includes UBS Arena, the Elmont, New York, sports arena that hosts Islanders games.

The Port Washington, New York-based industrial products distributor sells maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) products ranging from janitorial supplies to industrial-sized power generators and Zamboni-like ride-on floor-cleaning machines costing thousands. With $1.27 billion in 2023 sales, Global Industrial processes more than half of its sales transactions through ecommerce.

The company will feature its “The Source for Industrial Supplies” tagline through branding initiatives at all Islanders home games held at UBS Arena and at the Islanders’ practice times at the Northwell Health Ice Center facility.

Global Industrial will sponsor the Islanders’ Ice Crew through branded gear and ice removal and clearing equipment. In addition, Global Industrial will partner with the Islanders to support community philanthropic events that benefit the Islanders Children’s Foundation, promote girls’ youth hockey programs, and recognize military service members and their support organizations.

Global Industrial joins the UBS Arena Business Alliance

Global Industrial will also participate in the UBS Arena Business Alliance, an exclusive network of team and arena members.

The UBS Arena, which also hosts music events with performers including Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and Dua Lipa, is located on the grounds of the Belmont Park thoroughbred horse racing track, which hosts the Belmont Stakes, the final leg of the Triple Crown.

Global Industrial’s sports marketing programs also include a NASCAR sponsorship initiative launched in 2021 with Richard Childress Racing, featuring the Global Industrial logo on Chevrolet Camaro race cars.
