The e-reader device will be available online in the United Kingdom this fall.

Barnes & Noble Inc. will start selling its Nook e-reader  and tablet to U.K. consumers via a new e-commerce site, nook.co.uk, in mid-October, in time for the holidays.  The first products available in the new online store will include Barnes & Noble’s ‘e-ink’ readers, the Nook Simple Touch and its GlowLight version, which are designed to mimic on a tablet the experience of reading ink printed on paper. Both devices connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi only.

Partnerships to also sell the devices with U.K. retailers are forthcoming, the company says. So far, Nook products have been available only to U.S. consumers in digital stores or through the more than 1,300 Barnes & Noble retail locations and those of retail partners.

The U.K. online Nook store will sell more than 2.5 million digital titles including the country’s bestselling books, magazines and newspapers, along with comics and Nook apps, the retail chain says. Some of those apps allow consumers to read Nook digital titles on other devices, such as smartphones or PCs.

“We are proud to be able to offer our top-rated line of Nook reading devices and our award-winning digital bookstore to the discerning and highly educated consumers in the U.K.,” says William J. Lynch, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “We’re confident our award-winning technology, combined with our expansive content—including books, children’s books, magazines, apps, movies and more—will  bring U.K. customers the option they’ve been waiting for.”
