Stephanie Tilenius, who headed up Google Inc.’s e-commerce and payments businesses, has left the company. Tilenius has joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm, as an executive in residence. She starts next week.

Tilenius joined Google early in 2010 following a decade at online marketplace eBay Inc., where she exited as senior vice president and general manager of eBay North America and head of global product. She earlier was head of PayPal, the online payment service that eBay owns.

At Google, Tilenius headed up the launch of Google Wallet, a wireless mobile payments system that lets consumers pay for purchases in stores using smartphones. She also built up Google Shopping, the search engine’s e-commerce portal. 

Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers has provided funding to many digital companies, including flash-sale e-retailer One King’s Lane, No.  173 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, textbook rental e-retailer Chegg Inc., No. 274, daily deal vendor Groupon, social networking site Twitter, online music service Spotify and mobile payments service Square.
