The apps are designed to help guide travelers through destinations.

The Hertz Corporation and Navigation Solutions, a subsidiary of Hertz, have launched 11 new travel apps for the iPhone. The apps are part of a suite of travel planning tools designed to make creating itineraries and touring cities easier and more exciting, Hertz says.

The apps are being released under the Hertz NeverLost banner. NeverLost is a customizable route-guidance system that provides turn-by-turn audio and visual driving directions to virtually any destination in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, Hertz says.

“NeverLost’s My Explore apps feature custom content and cutting-edge technology that fully leverage Navigation Solutions’ knowledge of the travel market,” says Mark P. Frissora, Hertz chairman and CEO. “Hertz’s focus is always on the customer experience. By taking an all-encompassing approach with our technology, we are able to enhance the Hertz customer experience beyond the car, making Hertz NeverLost a complete travel solution.”

There are NeverLost My Explore apps for Dallas-Fort Worth, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami-West Palm Beach, New York, Sacramento-Northern California, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, and Washington, D.C.

Each app has six categories: Explore, Top Must See, Events, Favorites, Tours and Neighborhoods. App features include: customized voice narratives and text descriptions for sites, tours, shopping, neighborhoods and restaurants; access to a five-day weather forecast; and ways to share travel experiences via Facebook and Twitter.
