Calorie counters on MyFitnessPal are getting an extra nudge to work out, as if logging that 450-calorie mocha wasnt enough.

The food and exercise tracking website and app, owned by sports apparel maker Under Armour Inc., recently integrated with business management software Mindbody, giving MyFitnessPal app users easy access to fitness classes that use Mindbodys software. More than 55,000 businesses, such as spin studios, martial arts studios and yoga studios, are Mindbody clients, making all of those schedules available to MyFitnessPals 115 million members.

Consumers in the MyFitnessPal app hit more on the apps home screen, look through fitness classes that are nearby to them, book a class and pay for it all within MyFitnessPal. The booking is then registered with the associated fitness studio. The app uses the smartphones GPS to populate the classes based on her location, which is why this new feature only works in the MyFitnessPal app, says a spokeswoman for Under Armour. The fitness tracking app decided to do this because of consumer feedback, she says.

There is a large and growing female community in MyFitnessPal which directly relates to the majority of members who are booking studio classes, says the spokeswoman. This collaboration is a natural extension of improving the user experience, and were excited to see how our members react to this new feature.

While this is an added feature for MyFitnessPal users, this also allows studios to reach a largeR audience and boost attendance, she says.

We predict this community will continue to growbenefitting both the studios looking to fill their rooms and consumers looking for availability in their area, says the spokeswoman.

This is the first time that any of Under Armours apps have allowed consumers to search for fitness classes. More than 180 million consumers have downloaded Under Armour apps, the sporting goods apparel maker says. Its apps include the fitness recording app Record, personal training app Endomondo, exercise tracking app MapMyFitness, and recently launched shopping app UA Shop.

We have integrated class access into our apps and we know based on member feedback that this is what our community wants, says the spokeswoman.

Under Armour would not say how much the Mindbody integration cost, or if the company receives a fee for classes booked via MyFitnessPal
