Hills Distribution also referred to the partnership as a "transaction" in its announcement. The companies did not disclose financial terms.

Hills Distribution and PexUniverse have announced a partnership, expanding each company’s role in distributing parts in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) space.

Hills Distribution describes itself as a platform of independent plumbing, HVAC and hydronic distributors. PexUniverse describes itself as an ecommerce distributor for plumbing, heating and HVAC parts and supplies.

Hills Distribution also referred to the partnership as a “transaction” in its announcement. The companies did not disclose financial terms in their announcement.

Additionally, Hill Distribution said two existing team members, Vitaly Kharitonov and Mariya Pylypyuk, would remain with PexUniverse, with Kharitonov in an unspecified role and Pylypyuk serving as PexUniverse’s general manager after the transaction.

Hills Distribution noted that Pylypyuk would continue “to lead the business alongside the existing management team.”

Why Hills Distribution tapped PexUniverse for an HVAC ecommerce expansion

“Hills Distribution is excited to welcome PexUniverse to the platform and deepen our presence in the ecommerce channel, which continues to gain momentum across our industry,” said Ron LaBusch, CEO of Hills Distribution, in a statement. “PexUniverse has built an impressive business with a differentiated value proposition and moat, and we see meaningful opportunities to accelerate its growth while strengthening the broader Hills platform.”

PexUniverse said it has a catalog of about 8,000 SKUs that it offers from its distribution facility.

The partnership adds PexUniverse to a list of Hills Distribution brands that also includes:

  • Plimpton & Hills
  • Coastal Supply Group
  • RJ Murray
  • Bender Plumbing Supply

Hills Distribution framed the partnership as expanding its “presence in a digital channel that continues to gain share within the plumbing and HVAC distribution industry.” It also complements Hills Distribution’s branch network while “creating meaningful opportunities,” according to the company.

“PexUniverse brings a differentiated capability to Hills and expands our participation in one of the fastest-growing channels within plumbing and HVAC distribution,” said Jon Perry, chairman of Hills Distribution. “The business has developed a broad product offering and an efficient digital model that complements our existing companies.”

Gennady Sharovetky, former owner of PexUniverse, said it was important to find a partner that understood what made his business successful. He said Hills Distribution and Grove Mountain Partners share PexUniverse’s focus on scaling its business and long-term growth.

Grover Mountain Partners is a private investment firm involved in the transaction. It said it invests in wholesale distribution and blue-collar services companies with annual revenues between $25 million and $300 million.
