Toy and game maker Mattel Inc. is turning to the world of professional golf and club manufacturing for a new chief technology officer (CTO).

Mattel is made up of several iconic brands including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price, American Girl, Thomas & Friends, UNO, Masters of the Universe, Matchbox, Monster High, MEGA and Polly Pocket.

Now, Mattel has hired Sai Koorapati as a senior vice president and chief technology officer. He will report to Anthony DiSilvestro, Mattel chief financial officer (CFO).

Who is Mattel’s new chief technology officer (CTO)?

Koorapati will oversee all aspects of Mattel’s technology innovation and implementation. That includes shared platforms, software and hardware development, artificial intelligence (AI), and connected product design and creation. He also will lead Mattel’s online security and privacy.

Most recently, Koorapati worked as senior vice president, global information technology at Topgolf Callaway Brands. There, he led a digital transformation initiative for the company’s enterprise resource planning (ERP), ecommerce, and analytics platforms.

Previously, Koorapati held management positions at TaylorMade Golf, Gathering Storm Group of Cos., and other technology and manufacturing companies.

Koorapati holds a bachelor of engineering in mechanical engineering from Andhra University College of Engineering in India and received a master’s of technology in industrial engineering from the National Institute of Industrial Engineering in India. He will be based at Mattel’s global headquarters in El Segundo, California.
