Newegg Inc., after launching as a web-only retailer of computers and other electronics products in 2001, grew quickly to $1 billion in sales by 2004 and $2 billion by 2008.

Now it’s striving to go well beyond $3 billion, a threshold it inched past in 2014 with combined retail and business-to-business sales. Part of its strategy now is to build more international sales, as it helps suppliers throughout the world sell to its some 30 million customers in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Newegg sells to businesses on NeweggBusiness.com, and to consumers on Newegg.com. It also operates e-commerce sites in China, at Newegg.cn, and Taiwan, at Newegg.com.tw. It’s taking several steps to bring more suppliers and product categories to each, including such new categories as automotive products that it sells to repair shops and company fleets on NeweggBusiness.com.

“We’re in a good situation to focus on cross-border trade,” says Jimi Park, global seller manager. “We’re recruiting global manufacturers, brands and resellers to sell to our North American customer base, as well as list on Newegg.com to ship to customers in nine other countries.” In addition to the United States, Newegg.com ships to customers in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, India, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

Working with global sellers interested in selling to those international markets is, for now, a program only for the retail-oriented Newegg.com—but one that Newegg may eventually offer for sellers on NeweggBusiness, Park says.

In the meantime, Newegg is also working with suppliers in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to build up their sales to North American customers on NeweggBusiness.com, he adds.

Newegg works with overseas suppliers to them test sales in the U.S. and other markets, helping them with marketing campaigns that can gauge demand for a new product before committing to sell large quantities through Newegg’s retail or B2B sites. Among new categories it’s offering on NeweggBusiness, for example, is automotive parts that it sells to repair shops and company fleets. It also offers logistics services through its Ship By Newegg program, through which Newegg will hold inventory for third-party resellers and ship orders to end-customers.
