The marketing firm also hires two execs from the online promotions company.

BloomReach Corp., a web-based marketing platform vendor, has hired the two co-founders of ShopLogic, a company launched in 2011 that helped e-retailers manage online promotions.

Joining BloomReach in what the firm is calling an “acqui-hire” is the ShopLogic team: CEO Kevin Chan and chief technology officer Dennis Maskevich. Chan and Maskevich will become part of BloomReach’s product and engineering teams. ShopLogic’s platform will continue to be available to existing clients during a transition period but no further sales or marketing will happen.

“We are combining what we’ve learned with the incredible big data technology of BloomReach,” write Chan and Maskevich in a letter to clients posted on its web site. “BloomReach offers us the best opportunity to fully realize the original vision we had when we founded ShopLogic.”

Chan and Maskevich will work on building out BloomReach’s capabilities, says Raj De Datta, CEO of BloomReach. “They have a unique skill set that will help us better serve our customers by building more big data marketing applications for any online channel,” he says. BloomReach’s clients include Sears Holdings Corp., No. 6 in Internet Retailer’s 2013 Top 500 Guide, Shoebuy.com Inc. (No. 93) and Neiman Marcus Group Inc. (No. 39).

Before launching ShopLogic, Chan and Maskevich worked at search engine marketing firm Adchemy.
