2017 Canada Top 100 Report
The Canada 100
Online retailers based in Canada are coming on strong in 2017, with their sales tracking to increase in excess of 40% this year. That’s a rate three times greater than e-retail sales growth in Canada as a whole and four times greater than the median growth of Top 500-ranked U.S. e-retailers.
While established U.S. online merchants, such as Amazon, Wal-Mart and eBay, continue to command a majority of Canadian web sales, as their choices grow Canadian consumers are increasingly choosing to spend their money with online retailers that are “proudly Canadian.” In The Canada 100, Internet Retailer estimates Canadian merchants will account for 43.9% of Canadian e-retail sales in 2017, up from 35.2% in 2016.
Seeing the accelerated growth of domestic ecommerce, Internet Retailer for the first time identifies The Canada 100—the 100 largest Canadian online retailers ranked by their 2016 web sales. A complete listing—including primary product category, URL and web sales range—is included in the 40-page The Canada 100, alongside market facts and the results of an exclusive Internet Retailer survey of Canadian online shoppers. Internet Retailer estimates the merchants in the Canada 100 account for 37% of online sales made with Canadian e-retailers in 2016.
