TransUnion has launched what it calls “Digital Business Profile,” a solution it said helps small businesses represent their information accurately “across the digital search ecosystem.”
It cited Google research indicating that customers are 70% more likely to visit a business with a complete profile on Google. That research also shows customers were 50% more likely to consider purchasing from such a business. TransUnion is a credit reporting firm known for data and analytics.
TransUnion said its Digital Business Profile uses a single portal for small business owners to manage their company’s details.
“Until recently, business owners could focus on just a few dominant platforms, but AI has fundamentally changed the search experience,” said James Garvert, senior vice president of communications solutions at TransUnion, in the announcement. “AI search results aggregate information from many sources, so even a single outdated listing can affect what consumers see.”
In January, grocery chain operator Albertsons announced a retail media network partnership with TransUnion. Together, the companies have aimed to help brands better optimize their ad strategies, with the ultimate goals of increasing sales and return on investment.
How does the TransUnion Digital Business Profile work?
Inconsistent and inaccurate business information can confuse consumers, TransUnion said, leading to poor experiences.
It said the TransUnion Digital Business Profile enables owners to manage such details as:
- Business name
- Location
- Contact information
- Operation hours
- Accepted payment methods
- Service areas
TransUnion said it automatically distributes updates across more than 80 directories, maps, apps and social platforms. That helps businesses “present a consistent and reliable presence wherever consumers search,” it said.
In its announcement, TransUnion said maintaining accurate online information has historically been a manual, time-consuming process. Generative AI “has only intensified” that challenge, according to TransUnion.
It said an annual subscription to the TransUnion Digital Business Profile includes:
- Distribution across maps and GPS services
- Profile optimization
- Continuous monitoring and updates
- Visibility into how consumers discover and engage with a business
- Distribution status reporting
- Access to help desk support
“Small business owners work extraordinarily hard to run their day-to-day operations,” Garvert said. “It’s unrealistic to expect them to also update company information across 80 or more search platforms, yet accuracy is essential. “Digital Business Profile saves time, strengthens customer connections and helps protect a business’s reputation.”
