Global Industrial is accelerating its fulfillment process, cutting order processing time by 50% to meet increasing customer demand for faster deliveries and real-time tracking.
The distributor processes more than 60% of its orders digitally and generates approximately $1 billion in annual sales. It has overhauled its logistics and order management systems to streamline operations and improve last-mile efficiency.
Christopher Longhito, chief supply officer, says the company’s success depends on speed and accuracy.
“Timely delivery and product quality are what matter most to our customers,” he said. “We’ve optimized our stock levels, improved real-time shipping updates, and enhanced our logistics strategies to meet these expectations.”
With a catalog of 600,000 to 700,000 SKUs, Global Industrial ensures product availability by stocking key inventory in its distribution centers and leveraging direct-ship partnerships. To keep up with growing demand, some facilities now operate 24 hours a day, running multiple shifts to process high order volumes efficiently.
The shift toward on-demand, just-in-time purchasing has pushed Global Industrial to revamp its digital experience. Traditionally, industrial buyers placed large, strategic orders with an emphasis on delivery date accuracy. Now, customers expect near-instant fulfillment, mirroring the fast-paced ecommerce landscape.
