OEC’s acquisition of PartsTech reflects the growing demand for streamlined parts procurement and data-driven solutions in the automotive industry.

OEConnection (OEC) has made an acquisition for PartsTech, a B2B marketplace that connects auto repair shops with parts and tire suppliers.

The PartsTech acquisition strengthens OEConnection’s position in the mechanical repair sector. It also enhances its data and procurement capabilities. PartsTech allows repair shops to source parts and tires from a network of over 225 suppliers at 30,000 locations, streamlining the parts-sourcing process. The platform serves more than 25,000 repair shops and enables users to search, compare, and order parts through a single ecommerce system.

OEConnection (OEC) makes acquisition for PartsTech

Headquartered in Boston, PartsTech raised $35 million in Series C funding in May 2023. The platform is free to use. It allows repair shops to connect with unlimited parts suppliers.

OEC provides software solutions for the automotive aftersales industry. It facilitates connections between manufacturers, dealers, repairers, and insurers to improve parts sourcing, sales, and management.

Founded by GM, Ford, and Chrysler, OEC serves:

  • Over 45 automotive and heavy-duty manufacturers.
  • More than 100 aftermarket suppliers.
  • Over 135,000 repair customers.

OEC’s software solutions include inventory management, pricing, availability tracking, and business intelligence reporting.

PartsTech’s platform is designed to simplify the parts-sourcing process for repair shops. It enables them to search across all suppliers in a single search. Its ecommerce procurement system also helps repair shops compare options and make informed purchasing decisions. The acquisition of PartsTech expands OEC’s product offerings and strengthens its presence in the mechanical repair market.

The OEConnection acquisition of PartsTech reflects the growing demand for streamlined parts procurement and data-driven solutions in the automotive industry. The combined capabilities of OEC and PartsTech are expected to increase efficiency for repair shops and suppliers, drive profitability and improve customer satisfaction, the company says.
