In February 2021, online apparel thrift store Goodfair.com had a backlog of 14,000 orders to ship to customers. With its warehouse pickers only shipping about 200 orders a day, the merchant knew it would be a while before it dug its way out of the accumulation of orders.

Luckily, the web-only merchant was already in the process of updating its warehouse management system, which was set to launch in March 2021. Within two months of the system’s launch, Goodfair increased its warehouse speed and its six warehouse pickers could ship 500-800 orders on average per day, says Ryan Merket, head of product and technology.
