Claudia Hughes, a former vice president of the Business Solutions Division at Office Depot, has joined industrial products distributor Systemax Inc. as senior vice president and chief sales officer, Systemax said today.

Hughes, who will report to CEO Barry Litwin, will be responsible for areas including sales and customer initiatives across Systemax flagship Global Industrial’s United States and Canadian-managed sales teams.

“Claudia is a proven leader with a collaborative approach and great experience in developing, executing and achieving sales goals, especially in the U.S. B2B marketplace,” Litwin says. “Her customer-centric approach, along with extensive expertise in B2B sales and operations, make her a strong addition to our team.”

With experience as the former vice president of the Business Solutions Division at Office Depot, which involves both ecommerce and in-person contract sales, Hughes is expected to bring a broad background in B2B sales. “This is an exciting opportunity to join a proven and growing leader in the industrial and MRO marketplace,” she says. “Systemax has built an impressive ecommerce platform and strong managed sales organization.”

Hughes most recently served as senior vice president of U.S. Field Sales at Office Depot. She began her career at OfficeMax, where her positions included vice president, technology sales and services.
