The two companies, which have long worked together, will now build on their ability to capture 360-degree views of products and syndicate it online among brands, distributors and retailers, 1WorldSync said today.

1WorldSync is putting a new spin on how it helps brand manufacturers manage product content and share it online among distributors, retailers and consumers.

The provider of product content technology has acquired Snap36, a company that specializes in producing 3D images of products and displaying them in 360-degree-spin presentations, 1WorldSync said today.

“Capturing high-quality photography is the critical first step in the product content lifecycle,” said Steve Sivitter, CEO of 1WorldSync. “Our more than 12,000 customers rely on us to deliver an end-to-end solution and the addition of Snap36 allows us to fulfill their needs.”

1WorldSync, a company backed by investment firm Battery Ventures, has worked with Snap36 since 2017, using its rich media product-imaging technology in 1WorldSync’s Image Capture application. 1WorldSync clients such as grocery supplier Ajinomoto Foods North America use the Image Capture application to produce product images including 360-degree spin displays and to synchronize distribution of the images to its trading partners.

Snap36, founded 12 years ago by Jeff Hunt, a former executive of digital content company Adobe Inc., has worked on rich media product content directly with more than 800 companies involved in B2B and retail ecommerce, including W.W. Grainger Inc., 3M Co., Siemens, Amazon.com Inc., Walmart Inc., The Home Depot Inc., and Lowe’s Companies Inc., according to Hunt, who is CEO of Snap36.

Now, with Snap36 a part of the 1WorldSync organization, the two organizations plan to further develop and integrate their technologies to help companies produce and syndicate product content among trading partners and end-customers. Examples of its 360-degree-spin images range from a Ridgid power saw and a Bosch power drill to Vera Bradley luggage.

The acquisition follows 1WorldSync’s purchase earlier this month of CNET Content Solutions from investment firm Red Ventures for an undisclosed sum. CNET’s ContentCast application, for example, is designed to let brands syndicate product content among distributors and retailers.

In October, 1WorldSync introduced a Content Acceleration program for its product content platform to automate and accelerate the sourcing, management and distribution of product content across trading partners throughout supply chains and ecommerce sites.

1WorldSync also works with companies to help them synchronize product data among trading partners worldwide according to data standards set by the Global Data Synchronization Network, or GDSN.
