The apparel manufacturer and marketer this week launched Hanes Closeouts as a liquidation marketplace for such brands as Champion, Bali and Maidenform.

Merchants seeking to build their inventory of apparel goods have a new online source in Hanes Closeouts, a liquidation marketplace launched this week by Hanesbrands Inc.

The Hanes Closeouts marketplace, on which buyers must bid for goods, is the official liquidation channel of the company’s Hanes, Champion, Playtex, Bali, Just My Size and Maidenform brands. Inventory of new and customer-returned merchandise includes tops, bottoms, sleepwear, socks, legwear, underwear and loungewear.

Hanesbrands is making the merchandise available in both full-truckload and less-than-truckload quantities. Bidding is open to “qualified, U.S.-based business buyers only,” Hanesbrands says.

Hanesbrands will ship orders from four fulfillment centers in North Carolina, South Carolina, California and Virginia.

Hanes Closeouts operates on marketplace technology from B-Stock Solutions LLC, which operates the online platform including product content and auctions on behalf of sellers. “All sellers need to do is send us the inventory they are selling,” a B-Stock spokeswoman says. B-Stock uses marketplace data to “build the auction lots and get sellers’ products listed” with product images, auction titles and descriptions of auction lots.

For sellers that don’t handle their own order fulfillment and delivery, B-Stock makes such services available through partnerships with third-party logistics providers including C.H. Robinson.

Merchandise listed today included an auction of two pallets of Champion women’s socks, with an average cost per unit of $1.10 and a current bid of $1,475 for a total of 1,342 units with a total retail price of $13,091.

B-Stock does not charge up-front fees to launch a marketplace, which it says takes about 30 days to onboard a new seller with their own branded portal. It declined to comment on what it charges in ongoing transaction fees, but says “our fee structure is volume-based; our revenue is tied to how well we perform for our clients.”
