The running apparel and shoe merchant launched same-day delivery in 10 U.S. cities with delivery platform Locally, which delivers products from local stores via Deliv and Postmates.

Brooks Sports Inc., which sells apparel and shoes for runners on BrooksRunning.com, recently launched same-day delivery in 10 cities in the U.S. through delivery platform Locally.

Consumers can filter the retailer’s inventory by local specialty running store via Locally software on BrooksRunning.com. Once a shopper places the order for same-day delivery, the local store will pick and pack the order for delivery. Locally then has one of its delivery partners, such as Deliv or Postmates, pick up the order from the store and deliver it to the customer.

“While we look forward to seeing how broadly this feature is adopted, our priority is to provide the runner with easy ways to access our brand and products,” says Mike Billish, vice president of U.S. sales at Brooks Running. “Consumers want options for buying their favorite gear. Providing an option like same-day delivery signals to the customer that we are willing to accommodate to serve their busy lifestyle and shows just how much we value outfitting them in our gear.”

The same-day delivery fee starts at $5 and increases depending on the shopper’s proximity to the store, but the retailer did not reveal how high the fee could go. Brooks Running says shoppers could get their same-day orders within hours, but it depends on the local store’s operating hours, time of day the customer bought the product and shoppers’ proximity to the local store from which they ordered.

Brooks Running launched the same-day delivery option in Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C. The merchant will launch the service in 25 additional U.S. cities, but did not disclose a time frame or which cities. “Brooks and Locally will evaluate how to increase the number of cities they make the service available in,” the companies said.

“In addition to delivering gear to runners within 24 hours, same-day delivery will create new sales for our specialty running accounts by introducing new customers to their local stores,” said Brooks Running vice president of U.S. specialty retail accounts Rick Wilhelm.

“We’re so excited to work with Brooks to push the platform towards its ultimate goal: true on-demand shopping with nearby in-store pickup and same-day delivery options,” said Locally president Mike Massey.

Brooks Running has been been working with Locally since 2016 to connect its site visitors with nearby store inventory.

Brooks is No. 710 in the Internet Retailer 2019 Top 1000.
