That was the question that Pew Research Center asked 979 technology pioneers, innovators, developers, business and policy leaders, researchers and activists last summer. AI, the experts suggested, will “amplify human effectiveness,” saving time and money.

It’s still early days for AI-based digital marketing platforms that promise to leverage vast swaths of data to help retailers more effectively spend their digital marketing dollars, but they appear to be achieving their objective. Based on a recent Forrester Research Inc. survey, AI-powered digital marketing platforms are more effective at analyzing and leveraging data than their prior techniques, produce more effective marketing campaigns than non-AI-powered tools and boost their return on marketing spend. In short, AI-powered tools make marketers’ lives easier, which helps explain why 88% of marketers have adopted AI or are in the planning stages of it, up from 43% in 2016, according to the survey.
