Technology firms ES Tech Group and DDS Content yesterday launched EvolutionX Electrical, an ecommerce and web content platform designed for distributors of electrical products.

Distributors of electrical products have a new ecommerce and web content platform to consider, designed to help them personalize online buying experiences for customers with extensive content from manufacturers.

The platform, called EvolutionX-Electrical, Powered by DDS Content,  is a software platform designed to let business managers build personalized and content-rich ecommerce sites for buyers of electrical products. EvolutionX-Electrical is the first version of EvolutionX, a platform introduced earlier this year that is being designed for multiple vertical industries within construction and industrial products markets, according to its co-developers, web technology and services firms ES Tech Group and Distributor Data Solutions, or DDS.

The two firms designed EvolutionX to put IT departments partly “out of business in a positive way, and let business and marketing folks control their ecommerce site,” says Dave Bent, president of the U.S. operations of ES Tech Group, which has offices in the United Kingdom and the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook, Illinois. He adds the inclusion of DDS content supports the need of manufacturers to share more of their product data and images with distributors and end-customers.

‘No web development skills required’

The EvolutionX webstore platform,  Bent says, “integrates order workflows, cost-center/project budget management, marketing tools and capabilities for an array of content catalogs” among other B2B features. “It also has a configurable and intuitive interface so distributors can create a unique look and feel for their site with no web development skills required,” he says.

Matt Christensen, vice president of Salt Lake City-based DDS, says the web content DDS provides “includes everything manufacturers make available to help market and sell their products, from complete features and specifications to multiple images, supporting documents, videos, 360-degree product views and more.”

He notes that Evolution-Electrical has “more than three million electrical SKUs from over 1,000 brands, and we’re adding to that every week.” The EvolutionX platform is designed to automatically update such content, and make products and product attributes easier to find and compare with site search and navigation tools, he adds.

ES Tech Group and DDS say EvolutionX is designed for all sizes of distributors and offered under a software-as-a-service, or SaaS, model that companies subscribe to and access through a web browser. The smallest distributors may start out with a basic product catalog site, without ecommerce transactions, starting about $500 per month, the firms say.
