While e-commerce still represents about one-eighth of retail sales, it accounts for what’s approaching one-half of the growth these days.

Through the first nine months of 2018, online took a 41.8% share of total retail growth, according to an Internet Retailer analysis of data released by the U.S. Commerce Department. Here’s a look at how lifts from online sales have been a boon to total retail growth with a breakdown by fiscal year and quarter from 2010.
