Online shoppers are spending more of their dollars with Amazon. More than half of respondents in a joint Internet Retailer/Bizrate Insights survey of more than a thousand consumers conducted in March 2018 say Amazon is the first site they visit when browsing online.

So as shoppers increasingly get accustomed to navigating to the mass merchant’s site for all of their needs, it stands to reason that the retail giant is positioned to gobble up a growing share of online purchases across segments. Even for previously impenetrable categories like food and home improvement products.

Here’s a look at how Amazon is doing in some key merchandise categories.
