A Fortune 100 global manufacturer best known for making heavy duty construction equipment that ranges from hydraulic excavators and backhoe loaders to road graders and tractors, has hired a new executive to oversee key aspects of its digital strategy.

Caterpillar Inc., based in Peoria, Ill., and one of the world’s biggest makers of construction and mining equipment with 2017 total sales of about $45.5 billion, has hired Ogi Redzic as vice president for its digital enabled solutions division.

Redzic will oversee Caterpillar’s data analytics group, enterprise data hub, equipment management tools, Cat Connect technologies and customer experience portals. He also will be involved in setting and directing Caterpillar’s e-commerce strategy, although it’s unclear if he is directly responsible for all e-commerce operations. “The division is responsible for delivering on the Caterpillar e-commerce strategy, which includes B2B and retail,” says a company spokesperson.

Redzic, who will report to Caterpillar group president of customer and dealer support Bob De Lange, replaces vice president of global information services Julie Lagacy, the manager running the digitally enabled solutions division on an interim basis.
