The aptly-named Bill Pond had worked at L.L. Bean for the past 16 years, most recently as senior vice president, e-commerce, international and direct-to-business.

Avi Benaroya, founder and CEO of SwimOutlet.com’s parent company Spiraledge Inc., is increasingly focused on ventures other than SwimOutlet, including its sister e-commerce site YogaOutlet.com, and he wanted to hire a senior e-commerce executive, says a company spokesman. Spiraledge is No. 219 in the Internet Retailer 2017 Top 500.

“The time is right to bring in an executive to laser-focus on our swim business,” Benaroya says. “With vast e-commerce and sales experience along with his own background and personal passion for swimming, Bill is the perfect leader to take SwimOutlet.com to the next level in its continued growth.”

Spiraledge tripled its e-commerce revenue between 2012 and 2016, according to Internet Retailer estimates. The retailer generated an estimated $150 million in 2016, up 20% from $125 million a year earlier and a threefold increase from $50 million in 2012, according to Internet Retailer’s Top500Guide.com.

“As e-commerce continues to flourish and with multiple swimming product categories primed for growth, the possibilities for SwimOutlet.com are endless,” Pond says.

L.L. Bean is No. 35 in the Top 500.
