Steve Rendle has been with the apparel manufacturer since 1999.

A new year will bring with it a new CEO for apparel manufacturing group VF Corp.

President and chief operating officer Steve Rendle has been promoted to CEO, replacing Eric Wiseman effective Jan. 1. Wiseman will remain chairman of the board at VF Corp., No. 92 in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500 Guide. He has been CEO since January 2008.

Rendle’s current responsibilities include overseeing VF Corp.’s direct-to-consumer business, which includes e-commerce. He has been with the company for the past 16 years, starting with its North Face apparel brand in 1999 and then moving up the ranks internally.

“I’ve known and worked closely with Steve for the last 16 years,” Wiseman said. “Along the way, he has been deeply involved in every aspect of the business, and he’s clearly ready for this role.”

According to Top500Guide.com, VF Corp. did an Internet Retailer-estimated $420 million in online sales last year, up 20% from $350 million in 2014. During the fiscal second quarter of 2016, ended July 2, VF Corp. reported e-commerce sales were up almost 30% year-over-year.
