Russian users can now pay for games on Sony PlayStation via Yandex.Money e-wallet. Yandex.Money is the first online payment service in Russia that has been allowed to accept quick payments on the popular Sony game console.

According to the last Yandex.Money report, in 2015, the number of Russians who pay for online games through Yandex.Money increased by 50% compared to 2014. “Now our users — more than 22 million in number — can use Yandex.Money to pay for games on PlayStation,” says Anna Kuzmina, Head of International Business Development at Yandex.Money.

In the first half of 2015, Russian users spent 23% more on digital content online, including games, than in the same period in 2014.

“We are glad for the start of the partnership with Yandex.Money. Our main effort is to make the payment processes in PlayStation Store easy and quick for Russian gamers — this new collaboration is another step towards this aim,” said Sergey Klisho, General Manager at Sony PlayStation in Russia & CIS.
The PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system has cumulatively sold more than 30.2 million units worldwide by November 22. PS4 continues to demonstrate the fastest and strongest growth in PlayStation hardware history.

Using Yandex.Money, gamers also can pay on Nintendo, top up an account on Steam, and buy codes for iTunes and Xbox.

Yandex.Money is the leading payment service in Russia, according to a TNS survey in 2015. The service hosts about 22 million user accounts with about 12,000 new accounts opened daily. The service also offers online stores Yandex Payment Solution for accepting online payments by all the methods most popular among residents of Russia and other CIS countries: credit cards, e-wallets, mobile billing through the top Russia/CIS providers, and cash via over 170,000 cash-acceptance points all over Russia.
